The Art of Rotoscoping

Rotoscoping is the process of drawing a piece of footage frame by frame. It can be simple outlines of fully coloured or very abstract. No matter what the style is, it always have the same starting point. A piece of footage trace over either by hand or through the use of a computer. Rotoscoping is also used to isolate part of the foreground from the background for composing or visual effects work. In this session you will learn how to use a combination of Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Character Animator to transfer your footage to different kinds of cartoon animations. We’ll also explore the built in tools and 3rd party apps that can help to cutout video from the background.
